I've done all I can think of for now to understand how iron red
glazes work. See

So far, no luck on figuring out how to identify what makes up the
blue or green components.
Thanks to those who let me know of the references quoted. Any
ideas for progress that don't involve expensive lab facilities
are welcome, as is any reference that might hazard an informed
guess as to what is what.
Since several Clayarters have asked me how to take microphotos,
I've added a note on that, as well as how to compare calculated
COEs with measured ones (follow the link on 'COE').
