fellow clayarters,please pass this on to anyone you think may be interested:energy exchange in burnsville, NC (close to Penland School)has a couple of openings in their clay residency. i do not knowall the specifics but can generalize, the studios (glass,clay,greenhouse) are located on an old landfill. They have tapped into the methane to fuel the studios. Pottery studio residency is three years long and costs i believe$350 a month. included is all the firings (both electric and gas^10) , a businesscenter and business help, there is also a gallery on site that is opento the public. my friends that have went thru this residency report that theirmonthy expense is usually met by gallery sales. i think this is a good and realistic residency for aspiring fulll time potters. The only drawback is lack of atmospheric firings, but hell, there are enough of those kilns around hereto keep you busy! you can look energy exchange up on line and find contact infoand who to call. shane
