Hi Lee,
Curious old Clay there...for sure.
What happens in my apprehension of it, is not that I 'see' something
complete and serenely itself, but I see somehting out of it's context and I
want to know more about the context in order to understand the thing as it
was meant to be used.
I do like it very much, "just" as it is, mysterious and removed from all
continuity and 'place' it once had...but...
This was no 'mere' whimsey or decoration I am sure...this thing was
intentional...deliberate.
The old Carboy or Acid "Pot" you so hated, that started all this subsequent
tangents...when I saw that Pot, to me it was serene, completge unto itself ,
palpably Noble, Earnest...and I felt no need of explaination or
context...maybe, because I did understand it instantly, and knew more or
less it's purpose and intent.
The shape of this ( little? ) figurine suggests to me that it may have been
meant to be grasped...and held or wielded in some way...and with the size of
the Legs, I would wonder it it was a 'Rattle' of sorts...if the Legs being
hollow were able to be sealed to seal in some small dried Seeds or small
Nuts or something which would make sounds when it were shaken...
...definitely likeable, but for me, it wants context, or else I do...for
it...I want to know it's context, in it's terms...
I myself would not characterize this figurine as being a candidate or
also-ran for 'architypical simplicity' to be attributed to it...but I do
like it...regardless.
