I need to make my own glaze. I started by testing the 88% frit 3125 +12% epk
glaze that was posted here last year. I found it to be a ^04-05
glaze, not reliably clear
at ^06.
After some testing I have found that this glaze below seems to work reliably at
^06 as a nice clear. I have been adding 1% CMC gum and 1% veegum C
and .25% macaloid to harden it up. None of these alone seems to do the
job. I tried to find a recipe with higher clay but wasn't successful.
Does anyone have any general or particular comments on this? Anybody
using their own ^06 clear who would like to share their recipe with me?
I feel like I am reinventing the wheel by myself here and would like some
imput.
I tam thinking about raising the silica a bit. I was trying to
duplicate as nearly
as possible the specs on the simpler glaze.
Thanks,
Eleanora
