I've been asked to conduct a barrel firing a couple hours away from my home.
It will take the weekend. Should I be flattered by the invite or how much
would be reasonable to charge for my first workshop? Any suggestions on how
to think about this? David Todd

I've just completed a barrel firing. I often wrap the pots in tin foil and
enclose steel wool, salts and miracle grow to color the pots. This time I
painted a pot with the raku glaze copper sand from Peipenburg and wrapped it
in tin foil. Now I have a marroon and blue matte pot (just one). It seems to
have extended the pallet of colors for my barrel firing. Has anyone tried
other glazes that work in this low fire firing method?

Hey David,
Include bits of copper or brass wire, powder or even brass wool (used to clean stuff on and around boats as it doesn't rust) in your next package for barrel firing. It works well in my pit fires. :^) --Kim H.
