My 27-year-old Pacifica has done this several times through the
years. The problem has run all the way from very easy to fix, to
possible to fix, to un-fixable.
Easy to fix: Bad connection from the pedal to the control box.
Unplug it and plug it back in.
Possible to fix: The black magnet(?) inside the footpedal comes
unglued. Glue it back.
Un-fixable: Everything looks OK but it still doesn't work. Buy a
new pedal. They have upgraded the pedal several times. If your
wheel has an obsolete pedal you will also have to buy a new
control box. This is expensive, but consider it an upgrade, as
every new generation of controller is an improvment.
If you HAVE to finish something you are working on and can't
wait for getting a new pedal from California, it is possible to
use the whell as a one-speed wheel. Disconnect the motor from
the controller and connect it to a 12-volt car battery. This will
give you a constant slow-to-medium speed and make it possible
to trim a lid or a plate.

I've got a GT400, bought it in '94ish. The pedal acts up every now and =
then and it won't shut off the wheel. It turns out there's a little =
magnet inside the pedal that sort of sinks down and keeps the current =
going, so the wheel doesn't shut off. I bet if you take off the top of =
your pedal and tap the magnet back up into place, it might help.
Good Luck,

It don't rain but it pours over here, I swear. I went out to throw this
morning, and when I turned the wheel on, it started up just fine. Problem
is, it won't quit. It's like the foot pedal doesn't even exist. It's full
blast or nothing, and I'm not Japanese, so I can't work this way. It's a

problem....Oi. And yes, I'm going to call Laguna, as soon as they open. If
anybody can tell me how to fixit in the meantime, I'm all ears....and
fingers....
Thanks

L,
When you get the answqer from laguna, please post it. I have had 8 gt400s. Seven are currently in use and I have not had any problems. It would still be nice to know the fix if I ever do have this problem.
Thanks,
John

Lisa,
I;m wondering if a Brent pedal could be used. It might take someone with
a little more savy to make it work, but boy, do I like my Brent pedal.
Axner at one time carried a pedal that was an add=on, an that thing was
sooooo smooth. Can't remember what it was called, but i fit a number of
wheels as I recall. It would be worth calling them.
