Doug,
You have the galleries and clay sites already.
You didn't say how old your daughter is
but the University Museum has some wonderful displays
including mummies. See:
http://www.museum.upenn.edu/new/exhibits/amarna/index.shtml
Running
Philadelphia Museum of art..... is one of
the biggest art Museums in the USA (I spent a LOT of time in there)
See:
http://www.philamuseum.org/
The Rodin Museum is close by see:
http://www.rodinmuseum.org/
The Reading Terminal Market is a great spot with many flavors of the city.
See:
http://www.readingterminalmarket.org/about/
There's a lot more like the Edgar Allan Poe house, Independence Hall, The
Liberty Bell,
The Italian Market, etc.
The University of the Arts (Where Marcia Selsor and got our arts degrees)
has grown huge
since the days it was Phila. College of Art. see:
http://www.uarts.edu/see-do/philaattract.html
Bike, jog, walk along the Schuylkill River Trail which starts near the art
Museum
See Official visitor site for more ideas

Hi Doug: Philadelphia has a lot to offer. The Art Museum on the Parkway,
Rodin Museum also on the Parkway, The Clay Studio on North 2nd Street,
interesting shops on Third Street between Market and Vine, plus many many
historical sites as well. The Snyder Gallery is (I believe) on Arch Street
between Front and Second.

I am taking my daughter to Philadelphia the middle of September. I will be
there for two days. I would appreciate guidance on how best to spend my
time. Any special galleries, museums, shows, that should not be missed.

Thanks,
Doug

My home town!!!
Visit the Snyderman's Gallery around Third and Cherry Sts., the
galleries at The Clay Studio south of Second and Race Sts.
For culture visit the Art Museum at the end of the Parkway,
Independence Mall and the museum there is huge.
Over near University of Penn , University Museum has great pots from
China, Egypt, Peru.
And for authenticity, Pat's Cheesesteaks at 9th and Passyunk south of
the Italian Market. If your daughter is young, take her to the
Franklin Institute also on the Parkway. I love Philly. Penn Treaty
Park where Penn signed the treaty with the Delaware Indians on
Delaware Ave. and Columbia.

There are some nice small galleries in Manayunk (right outside down town)
and on Main Street in New Hope, that are worth a visit.
Do stop at Reading terminal across from the convention center, down town for
great food and homemade ice cream.
Have fun! and watch out for those cheese steaks....
