Hi,
we fired a soda kiln (among others) at potters camp last week in suffolk =
(next county to Ruthanne) we used a saturated solution as far as i =
recall, i will e the kiln owner and check, if you were about in suffolk =
you could do a lot worse than go and see jerry finlayson.
I had 2 bowls in the soda kiln that were unglazed on the outside and had =
a porcelain slip on the inside. They were Spencroft Fleck, a lovely =
clay, but with a high iron content. I put an orange glaze over one of =
the bowls and a yellow over the other. i can post pice if you want to =
see them.
i am presuming that the orange glaze had a lot of rutile in it, because =
i have crystals growing in my glaze. again, pics if interested.
best wishes,
Pat Southwood.
