Hello All!
I wanted to let those of you with Alpines know that we've just done our
second firing after removing the silicon carbide "bagwalls." We're
getting better heat distribution, more responsive heat rise when the
kiln is bumped, more accurate readings from the pyrometers (much closer
to the cone readings) and nice, tight glazes.
We've done nothing else to renovate the kiln, and probably won't for
this quarter. If the excellent firings continue we will proceed to a
ceramic coating to repair the lining.
