I'm not surprised to see that someone used porcelain pots to lavishly =
decorate a house. When I was in China in June (with Po, the Chinese =
Clayart tour - fantastic!) I saw (presumably) rejected vases used as =
balusters in a garden, and many walls composed of used saggar pots =
mortared together. Made me expand my thinking of uses for pots, =
especially those I deem unworthy of the purpose for which they were =
made, other than smashing them to use for mosaics.=20
Ceramics seems such an important part of Chinese culture - I don't think =
they ever sit around and discuss whether ceramics is Art - they know it =
is! So why not festoon a house with porcelain pots! I'd like my own =
house to say, "A potter lives here," but so far I've only made a =
nightlight, with vague plans for kitchen backsplash tile and switch =
covers, and tile to decorate the fireplace in the living room.=20
I guess I'd be curious to know how some of you have incorporated pottery =
into your home - not just pots on shelves, but touches that will stay =
with your house when you move on.
