Still some room left, and wanted to post one more time about a workshop
this coming weekend!!!

Arizona Clay Club will be hosting an awesome workshop given by Frank
Boyden. Frank, woodfire artist from Oregon, will be demonstrating his
unique approach to clay from 9am-4pm on Saturday and Sunday November
8 and 9, 1997. Frank is ready to share some throwing techniques
using porcelain and stoneware and talk about his particular glazing
and firing ideas, along with showing slides and bringing examples
of his work for sale.

Frank uses quickly executed, animalistic marks on his pots, (usually
representing birds or fish) and fires with a specialized schedule of
oxidation and reduction sometimes using post-fire reduction methods
to accent the piece further.

Cost for this workshop is an amazingly low $55 for non-club members,
$45 for club members and $40 for students (with proof of 9 hours
enrollment for the fall '98 semester).

Workshop will be held at Grand Canyon University, Ethington Theater
3300 W. Camelback Road, Phoenix Arizona.

>From _The Art and Craft of Clay_ by Susan Peterson
Frank Boyden: One day last fall as the wind shifted, the sky over
the sea was full of long wisps in the shapes of cormorant heads and
backs and beaks. The sky was full of bird lines, like trails of
ghost birds. I do not go out of my way to find symbols like this,
they happen upon me from time to time."

Thanks :-)
