Given the current threads re ^5 B-mix, I thought I would share the results
of the absorption testing I did on that body about a year ago. I used the
boil test described in Mastering Cone 6 Glazes. I fired several clay body
samples on the top shelf of a kiln that was loaded with glazed ware on
other shelves. The shelf with the clay body samples fired to ^6 at 3
o'clock. For the two samples of ^5 B-mix, I got absorption of 1.33% and
1.26%, respectively.
