My Ceramic Supplier told me that I could apply Duncan Concepts Underglazes ON TOP of ^5 glazes,
and then fire them. Has anyone tried this? I am talking about maybe doing this with a white ^5 glaze
applied to an 06 bisqued pot, and then painting the Concepts underglaze over the white glaze. I have
never heard of putting an underglaze over a regular glaze, but I am totally positive that is what he
said to do.

Kathy
Am not sure about the Duncan Concepts -- however -- the Duncan Envision
glazes are fired to Cone 06. Had noticed on their website, that most of
their glazes fire to Cone 06.
Haven't tried any of their products yet, as i mix my own from oxides but
you might try emailing them from their website and asking: especially
since the Cone you are considering is so much higher.

I've done this to ^6 and was very satisfied with the results. The glazes
fluxes the underglazes somewhat.

Thank you all for your help on this---another question now--has anyone used Concepts over
anything besides a white ^5 unfired glaze? I ask this because I was thinking of decorating some
plates by dipping them first in a black glaze, and then painting with a yellow Concepts underglaze on
top of the black glaze. Also, what has your experience been on vertical surfaces?

I did get a message about these underglazes mabe making the the glaze they are sitting on "flux" a
little more, but quite honestly, I'm not sure what that meant!

Hi Cathy,

Just remember - when you do that the chances are the result may not be
durable - best to keep such decoration on the outside fo functional ware.
