electric kilns inside

I realize I am showing my ignorance here, but is there any comparison on
having an electric kiln inside to having a gas kiln inside (besides that
they both heat pots)? I have a 23 x 12 studio in a cinder block
basement-level utility room off the garage. Immediately above the =
studio is
a false ceiling with a couple of feet of air space (where pipes are
located)=85then a seldom-used bedroom above that. I will probably soon =
be
getting a larger kiln, but the 2.5 cu.ft. kiln I have has a vent-sure =
system
to the outside. =20

1. Does the electric kiln still give off Carbon Monoxide when set up as
described? =20
2. Is it in a safe area to our living area (which is above the studio)?
3. Should I be keeping the fan on the vent-sure on throughout the
process to vent out gases the entire time I=92m firing? I have been =
turning
it off at approximately 1940 =B0 F. =20

Thanks for your words of wisdom=85

----------------
1) It depends on the type of clay you are firing, the number=20
of air intake holes in the kiln, the condition of the vent=20
pipe, and the condition of the vent fan.

2) It is okay to fire a kiln in your basement provided the=20
vent system is set up properly. Is the outside vent near an=20
open window? This would be a source of concern.

3) I would leave the fan turned on throughout the firing and=20
cooling cycle.
