I have a question for all you clayart folks with more knowledge and =
experience than I have. I was glaze firing to ^6 and my kiln was =
interrupted by a power failure. The program said it reached 2100*F and =
by looking at the cones that seems about right. ^6 about 2:00 on the =
top shelf and 2nd shelf but 3rd and 4th shelf its straight up. On =
bottom shelf cone five doesn't even show much of a bend. I would like =
to re-fire these pieces but I'm not sure what temp/cone to take them to. =
I know about heat work and that re-firing them to ^6 might over fire =
them. Any suggestions as to how I can save my pieces? Any suggestions =
would be greatly appreciated.
BTW: they are mostly ^6 porcelain from Standard.

Allyson, re-fire the pieces to cone 5, and that should
take care of it. You could go to 51/2, probably.
The just follow your normal cooling program.
Your kiln is firing fairly unevenly. Can you slow
your firings, or arrange your shelves in a fashion
that will permit better air flow?

Hi Allyson,
Probably too late - I've been out of town.
Just use the same cones again - they have already measured the heat work
done during the first firing - and will take that into account for the next
firing - whitch will have to be a bit shorter to get the same results.
