little bit of kiln repair help - broken elements

Hi all
This won't help the problem Sarah has, but we were able to keep our kiln
working when an element broke - not near either end. We just heated it a
bit so it wasn't too brittle, stretched it out just so we could "interlock"
the two pieces, and put it back into the groove. We weren't really
confident it would work, but it did - for quite a few firings.
Wouldn't recommend that normally, but at the time it would have been really
inconvenient to remove and replace the element.
