My wife and I will be going to England and France to, among other things, check out some pottery studios and meet some potters, talk about methods and share ideas. I have found a lot of places to visit in England but have not found many interesting studios to see in France. We are most interested in high fire stoneware and porcelain and soda glazing. We will be going from Paris to the south and Provence area. If anyone has the name of places or potters, please let me know asap. We leave this Tuesday.
Thank you for any information you can provide.

Hi David,

Here are some recommendations for the France portion of your trip.

Dieulefit (roughly halfway between Lyon and Aix en Provence) is a well =
known
pottery location in the Rhone-Alpes region.
St-Quentin-la-Poterie (west of Avignon and north of Nimes) is a fabulous
village full of pottery studios and a museum/gallery.

There is a great book called "Guide des c=E9ramistes" which lists over =
1400
potters throughout France. They have a website at
http://www.revue-ceramique-verre.com/ select 'Les Guides' from the =
dropdown
menu adjacent to LIVRES/Books for more info.

I have a number of potter friends around the Lyon area, though they are
mainly raku potters. If you would like more info just drop me a line.

Hope that helps,

David,

if you go to St-Quentin la Poterie, do not forget
to visit Charles Eissautier, he owns
ImagineCeramic
that sells more than 1,800 books.
He is the "Steven Branfman" of Francophonia when
it
comes to selling books.
