calculating plaster and pouring in smaller batches

My volume plaster method....that ALWAYS WORKS FINE....calls for
using the same volume of plaster as the volume of space to be filled and
then using 2/3 of that in volume for the water.

But more to the point here, I do not believe that you have to pour this slab
all at once. For one thing, when I have a big pour to do I do a small pour
first to make sure there are no leaks at the bottom without the pressure
of a large amount of plaster forcing it out those leaks. Then with my finger
or a tool I make a whole lot of undercuts in the plaster surface after it has
gotten a little past pudding stage and before it sets fully.....think of going
in at a diagonal...... so that the subsequent batch is locked in place.

This is a no-stress plaster procedure that works great for me.
