Brian, the heavy stuff is probably magnesite, chemically magnesium
carbonate, but physically different than the light MgCO3, which is
made by precipitation. At the moment, I'm interested more in the
heavy stuff than in the light. Have you had any mixing it into glaze
slurries?

Tim

I ordered Magnesium carbonate...
What I got was a bag of material
That is not fluffy as was my past
Experience...
The bag claimed it was Calcium/Magnesium
Carbonate....

I could not find info in Hammer
About this specific material...

I want to use the material to
Encourage crawling...shrinking of
The glaze...

Any suggestions about what I have....

Thanks
karen

sometimes,in the glazt texture workshops, the Magnesium carbonate
supplied is like the material you describe.........it never works a
well as the
"fluffy" type for crawling and beading
My supplier labels the "fluffy" type as Magnesium Carbonate (LIGHT)....

.......send it back and ask for the light version...........

Someone else might describe to chemistry of all this....I speak
purely from practical experience.
