electrifying your pug mill

Consider purchasing a fuel powered generator, 4000 Watts might be enough, to
run your pug mill. Pug mills are not generally continuous duty but having
that 220/240 volt motor makes a big difference. A comparable load on the
room circuit you spoke of seems unworkable. Watts is watts so the machine
running 15 amps off the 240 volt source of the generator is pulling 3600
watts. doing the same work at 110 volts requires a 32 amp draw. Clearly
beyond the safe capability of the room circuit you describe. So, the
machine you can fit to the circuit will be significantly less capable than a
"normal" one. All other things being equal, if you cannot get 220/240 volt
service run into the room you use for the price of a generator that would
run the machine you really want, think about the generator. The compromise
lower voltage machine may never be satisfactory and you will have to make
another adjustment later. IF the budget can stand it, get the machine you
need for the amount of clay processed and run it off a generator. The
generator needs to be outside - Of course.
