NCECA in Pittsburgh should be a great one! Especially if we ALL keep
praying for good weather. Keep those positive thought forms focused
on........ warm & sunny!
Downtown is beautiful.......especially at night......with Three
Rivers converging.....easy to get around, good restaurants, great
arts community. Just keep praying!

Letter from Pittsburgh Onsite Liaison
Joshua Green
Pittsburgh has just played the role of host extraordinaire to the
Glass Art Society Conference, which brought approximately 1300
makers, students and collectors to our city. Seeing the exhibitions
around town and interacting with visitors from across the US and
abroad offered a sneak preview of how NCECA attendees will respond to
the city and its cultural resources next March. Last week we made a
presentation about NCECA to a group promoting the Western
Pennsylvania Region through a campaign called Pittsburgh 250 in
celebration of the city's bi- sesquicentennial. The response received
was both enthusiastic and a bit incredulous that the ceramics
conference may out scale the recent glass gathering by three or more
times.
Manchester Craftsmen's Guild has just received a technical assistance
grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts to develop and
support cultural programming related to ceramic arts and education
aligned with its role as NCECA host organization. A portion of these
funds may also be used to help Pennsylvanians participate in the
conference. We will be working out the details of how to apply for
this support in the coming weeks so that can they be shared when on-
line registration opens in November.
