For majolica, I mix my mason stains either as one part stain to two parts
frit, or one part stain to two parts gerstley borate. Both work well for me -
but I brush them on real thin. I use Pemco frit 311 in my glaze and for the
stain. I do find that the g.b. mixed stains flow better and don't look as
streaky on the fired ware.
