Hi all!

I just wanted to let Phil know that we've had electricity and running water here in the Burgh for a while now. The smoke is all gone, along with a gazillion jobs, but that's another story.

Today, things are going great. Pittsburgh hospitals are on the cutting edge of transplant surgery and other medical specialties. We have truly world class museums (old Andy Carnegie was very generous), tons of galleries and top notch schools. We is modern, Phil!

The city is great, but the people are wonderful....very friendly. We actually wait for our turns at stop signs. Western Pennsylvania is known for its hospitality and I'm sure everyone will have a great time at NCECA.

A word of caution to anyone willing to ride with Lori Leary. Make sure you stop for bathroom breaks every chance you have, otherwise, you will pee your pants from laughing! We took a road trip to the Indianapolis NCECA and I think the ride was almost as fun as the conference.

Take care and looking forward to seeing everyone in The Burgh!

Hi Carla, all...

Oh..!

Lol...

I know nothing of Pittsburgh, other than I long ago read the Haniel Long
Short Story titled "How Pittsburgh returned to the Jungle", appearing in a
truely lovely 1920s Book of his, called 'Notes for a New Mythology'.

Or, that Pittsburgh was at one time occupied quite a bit in Manufacturing.

And that Pittsburgh, being difficult to relocate on whim or reason, is
understood to still be located in Pennsylvania.

...do you suppose there are any decent, well kept, really ( really ) cheap
19th Century Commercial Buildings for sale there?

Smallish ones especialy, two story, with lightly Sun fanned, dusty, Spidery
Basements, ideally as added amenity? - having plenty of Casement Windows,
tall Ceilings, and being of the five to ten thousand sq.ft way of scale all
tolled?

Ones which may be bought for 'back taxes' or for one or two stacks of
'banded hundreds'? or the likes?

I still have to figure out 'where' to move to...!

Are the Winters 'mild'?

Does most everyone smoke and drink Coffee, have good driving habits, table
manners, ways of dress, and know how to be polite?

Is it a good place to plant a Vegetable Garden?

Is there a 'sales Tax'?

Is there a 'State Income Tax'?

Do the good people of Pittsburgh popularly spurn both, just out of good
sense, if there are?

Are there many troubles with intemperate minoritys or immigrants? ( I get
along fine with everyone, but just curious...)

Would it be a good place for me do you think?

Looking forard to seeing Pittsburgh..!

Love,

Phil

Try the rest stops on the PA turnpike - better selection there than we
saw in the Steeler stores last year :)

.... Bruce (married to a Steeler fan. Still trying to figure out why
someone would watch football when they could be playing with clay, but
