Cathie,
I also like the natural look of unglazed stoneware,so I make pots that are
glazed on the inside but not on the outside.
This way I get a pot that is food safe , but at the same time ,has a
natural look .
I use stoneware that has a texture of sea send when it is unglazed.
Having only the inside of my pots glazed, creates some interest that I
believe would not exist if the pots were completely glazed.
I hope this helps,

Thanks to everyone who answered my questions on the book search, "The Potters
Book of Glaze Recipes". Still have not found it but both Amazon Books and
the Potter's Shop are searching.
Will try the different tips on rim turning.
Unglazed stoneware IS very pretty, but it does stain after a while,
especially if touch with grease or oil. That does not wash off.
Re: Stuck in a rut. Try finding a group or class with other experienced
potters in your area. Even if you have to travel aways, they can usually
help and it is worth the drive. Many ideas get exchanged this way and new
friendships built.
