Look at the drawing labeled Back Wall Flue Not Shown (flue opening is=20
shown). Somehow this seems in error to me
and I don't know how it got past me. The burner ports and flue opening=20
should be on the 36" side (54" outside) and then
the shelves will leave the 31-1/2"side with a 3" space on the flue side and=
=20
4" space on the other side.
The pattern of the brick should be as follows 2-1/2", (4" high) 2-1/2",=20
2-1/2", 2-1/2", 4-1/2" (burner port 4-1/2" high),
2-1/2", 2-1/2", 2-1/2", 1-1/2", 7" (flue opening 4-1/2" high) 1-1/2",=20
2-1/2",2-1/2", 2-1/2", 4-1/2" (burner port 4-1/2" high),
2-1/2", 2-1/2", 2-1/2", 2-1/2" equals 54". This is the way mine is with=20
the flue opening on center. The drawing shows
the flue opening slightly off center. That requires replacing both 1-1/2"=
=20
pieces and replacing them with one 2" brick
on the left of the flue opening and a 1-1/2" piece on the right of the flue=
=20
opening or any other configuration equaling 3" wide.

Given 54" total out side width minus the two out side walls totaling 18"=20
there remains 36". Next subtract 24" (12" + 12") for shelves
and that leaves 12" or 6" flameway on each side.

You asked: "Another question: The first course for the walls is a soldier=
=20
course. In
this course in the drawing it shows several 2=94 openings=85I think. What=
are
these for?"

If you are referring to the drawing labeled Front Wall, the X in the two=20
spaces next to the dooridentifies it as a 2-1/2" brick and the blank space=
=20
is 2" brick. As to the X in alternate courses at the corner
of the walls, my guess is that the CAD draftsman we gave our drawing to did=
=20
that for clarity. Or, if you are referring
to the drawing labeled Side Wall, where it says "2" spaces" it should have=
=20
read 2" brick to distinguish
it from the rest that are 2-1/2" brick.

If this does not clear things up, send me an email and I will send you my=20
phone number so
you can call me and we can straighten this out.
