Hello all!

I've been lurking for months and enjoying the reading, and have a question
that I haven't been able to find the answer for by searching. I was given
a quantity of raw glaze materials, and some already mixed glazes, from a
deceased estate. Unfortunately no recipes to go with, but I now have what
appears to be an eclectic collection of materials. One of the containers
was simply labelled "Moroccan Sand s/w", and as it looked like it had been
a glaze that had dried out (a hard lump as opposed to a powder) I remixed
it and fired a test tile to cone 9 ox without any luck, simply a rough
whitish pasty residue left behind on the tile. From my searching, I
haven't been able to find any info on this except as a Laguna brand of
glazes. Any ideas what I should do with this, or is it destined for the
bin?

My dream is to find a program whereby I could list my ingredients and it
would magically pop out glaze recipes containing them, but I think that's
still a dream, and as I'm only really just starting out in my pottery
life, I'm resigning myself to many a glaze test to come. Thanks for any
help.

Kelly -

I believe the Laguna Moroccan Sand glazes are cone 6 ox. Try firing another
tile to cone 6 and see what you get.

Hope this helps.

Bailey lists a series called Moroccan sand. It is a cone 5 glaze. Here is their site.
