gas to electric oxide blues

Having just moved to studio that utilizes solely electric firings, the
quality of the red and black iron oxides seem just pathetic in comparison to
those done in a cone 10 reduction kiln. How do you achieve that same
lustrous wood quality without it looking too red or black? We now fire
with a clay body much lighter in color, which in turn vary the color....but
the oxides still don't seem to adhere the way they used to. We now use
cone 6 electric kilns--any suggestions for better application or methods of
oxide or mason stain treatment would be appreciated. Thanks!! Lost in new
studio..Nell Ryan
