I have been using Opulence glazes ^6. I have had great success with
Celedon and Calico. Clear needs to be very thin to if used for dipping
other wise it clouds up. The eggshell white looks like a light hares
fur in clear - not opaque (hoping I can add some Zircopax to opacify
that batch), the Smokey Mtn Mist is good but needs to be really thin.
The Blue Monday has not worked well, lots of crawling, Black some
pinholing and nothing interesting going on with that glaze. I'll be
testing Everglade and Medow in the next week or so. I need a
brownish/redish and a nice black, maybe with a slight hint of metalic
or oil spotting.
Anyone out there use any other prepared glazes with Opulence or have
Opulence favorites.
Had been using Standard 181 white stoneware, ^6 electric glaze firings.
I am now using Campbell's Virginia Dogwood, it seems to behave
essentially the same as 181.

Hi Virginia,
I have used many of the Opulence glazes ^6. The Potters Choice, are =
great. Love shino and Albany slip. The temmoku is very nice also. So =
is the oilspot and the rutile blue is my favorite. The first time I =
used the rutile, I got a beautiful yellow center in by bowl, but have =
never repeated that. I gave that bowl away before I realized it was an =
original, (at least so far:>( I also like the salt buff with a smooth =
glaze inside. The bambo Opulence envirocoler is a good match.
The Opulence envirocolers are very matt. The website says they come out =
matt and shiny, but they are matt for me. I have my pieces fired for me =
in a workcenter's kiln, so don't have much control. The Everglade and =
Meadow look great with a clear over or mixed with some clear. The =
others look good layered and sometimes with a shiny over, depending on =
the look I want.
