101 CLAYART MUGS... A TRAVELING EXHIBIT
Clayarters....
Thank you for your interest in this project. At this point in time
I don't know the availability of space for a showing at NCECA or any other
highly visible location. If you can help us to find appropriate locations
for this exhibit then please do so! However I feel that if we don't get
the wheels into motion then it will be too late for a showing this coming
year (1998) should desirable venues become open.
There may possibly be a participation fee imposed for shipping,
photography, and scanning, possible a brochure, etc... should this become a
viable exhibit. I will let you know as I gain information on these issues.
I would anticipate $5 on the low end to $20 on the high end... If sponsors
are picked up then certainly that will reduce any potential fees.
I would like to get your ideas on how to make this a successful and
worthwhile endeavor. As you can probably tell, I am playing this project
by ear. Since I don't have a crystal ball I can't tell exactly where this
one will go but certainly this idea has a good deal of potential. My
philosophy-- "nothing ventured is nothing gained." Please DO NOT send mugs
until you are instructed to do so.

If you are interested in participating in this event then please
complete the below application and return it directly to me via E-MAIL. I
have not yet determined an application deadline. I also would like to
hear from you as soon as possible. The plans for the exhibit are at best
very sketchy. I will continue to send updates as needed.

3)Your day and/or evening time phone numbers and the most convenient time to
reach you (Optional)
4)A brief description of the mug that you would send to the exhibit... ie...
functional, *non-functional, hand-built, slip cast, cone 10 stoneware,
porcelain, earthen ware, etc., glaze descriptions: oxidation, reduction
fired, majolica on terracotta, copper reds, cobalt blues, etc..etc.. be as
descriptive as possible...
*I am strongly leaning away from accepting non-functional mugs but feel
free to express your opinion...
5)**Photos (prints or slides) Please snail-mail those items to me. My
address is found below.... NOTE: The jurying process may become
necessary if there are more mugs than there is room for display. If you
want your photos return then please send a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope
(SASE). Web-site address with photos of your mug(s) would be sufficient
for the present if possible...
**Note:If you are uncomfortable with sending photos until more details are
available then that is perfectly fine.
6)The approximate retail selling price of the mug that you plan on having
entered into the exhibit.
7)A list of any comments, concerns, or suggestions that would help me to
make this project succeed...
