Thanks to everyone that gave me suggestions on firing a very large platter.
I fired it slow by turning on low, one control for an hour each. All medium
for 4 hours, then all High until I reached bisque temp.
Instead of spreading a lot of alumina hydrate I just put down about 10, 1/2
inch stilts under the platter for it to rest on and that did the trick no
cracks. Also did not open kiln until stone cold.
Now for the glaze firing.............
