I have been searching for a glossy dark, cobalt blue glaze to use in
combination with a matte white glaze. I have searched the archives but
haven't found what I am looking for. I have made several tests of blue
glazes , but I have been unable to find two that work well together. At
cone 10, Mammo White seems to be the perfect white, but the blue I used
was too strong and turned the white to lavender much like my Mammo
Lavender. Yesterday I found that a calcium base glaze I tested with 4%
cobalt turned the white to a demin blue. I think the biggest problems
with the blues I have been testing is finding the right base glaze to
that won't alter the white. Any suggestions before I waste anymore
time? =20

In terms of the Mamo, I believe it is a high magnesium white. If I'm
correct that would turn any blue you use purple. Cobalt blues are
pretty stable and reliable. I think you need to concentrate on a
white that doesn't have materials that will alter the blue.
