mixing glaze part 2

mixing a bucket of glaze is just the first step in the process.
many think...`got that mixed...now i am done mixing.`
not at all, not at all.

the reason many use dippers is that you can pull the
glaze `always` from the bottom of the bucket.
and, before each dip...you give it a stir.

it is the constant motion that keeps the glaze in suspension.

i have seen many potters glazing..and i know that most
of the glaze has already settled. thin glaze. they think
just because it was mixed fifteen minutes ago, it is still mixed.
and, we all know that much glaze imperfection is based on
poorly mixed glazes.

so. the dipper or stick in bucket method is
very good.

there is little difference in a home depot mixer, a toilet brush
or stick...it is keeping it mixed that is the trick.
glaze materials drop fast. slow glazers are often prone to this
problem. they just forget.
