glazed porcelain problem

Hi, everyone. A couple weeks ago I decided to mix some porcelain... it
was very weird to work with at first, but now I love it. I made this
very nice little bowl, glazed it clear, and something weird happened in
the bottom on the inside. It looks like what happens when you wax resist
something and the glaze doesn't stick. There's a huge spot in it where
there's no glaze, and the spot is an odd shape. I'm positive there
wasn't wax, and I put two coats of our clear on it. I don't know what
was sitting next to it, but that might have done something to it. I've
also noticed in our firings that some of our glazes are coming out with
what seems to be a dull spotty grayish color. It looks like the pattern
of a tenmoku glaze, but it's on the top of the glaze itself and it's not
a type of residue.
I'm sure someone has had these problems before.
(Also... we glaze at Cone 6, Bisque at Cone 08, and the porcelain I made
is one that some people don't call porcelain because it's a Cone 6 body.
It's "EPK Porcelain Cone 6" by Dale Neese. I did two teeny little bowls
to check two other glazes and they turned out fine.)

Your glaze crawled. Use a damp sponge to wipe down the bisque a day before
you glaze it. If your work is large or not super thin, you can glaze it
same day. There are other reasons for crawling, however start here. If that
doesn't work, refer to the faults section at www.potters.org.
