Hi Fred,
I'm guessing that big kaolin company you live near is Imerys. We get =20=

6Tile & DB Float from them (also used to get Kaopaque 20, Pioneer & =20
Velvacast from them) I think they are now some part of the KT Clays =20
conglomerate (as in the Ball Clay people). I don't know which owns =20
who, but there seems to be some kind of connection. I would agree =20
that 6Tile and EPK can be used more or less interchangeably, at least =20=

in a glaze. Just thought I'd share the other useless information =20
that I happen to have a preponderance of.
Oh, also I did want to mention when you say "Georgia Kaolin" you =20
might want to be a bit more specific, because if you were talking =20
about Georgia DB Float, I would say it probably wouldn't be =20
interchangeable as it is an airfloated Kaolin.

Cindy,

I had a brother in law who was a trucker and he would haul tank truck
loads of Georgia Kaolin to a plant in Detroit where it was used to coat
metals - like bathtubs, refrigerators, stoves, etc. This was before I
got into the pottery game, so I don't know more than that.
