outlet aesthetics

Thank you, everyone, for the many postings empathizing and
offering good suggestions on how to disguise those *** ing outlets.

Amongst the terrific suggestions were 1) sand or roughen the surfaces
and paint them, 2) plan for them in the design (it wouldn't have been
possible in this case, but definitely is something to think about in
the future), 3) have the client use outlet strips mounted under the
cabinets (a brilliant idea, especially for new construction), and 4)
get commercial outlets and covers in a more suitable color. Re: the
latter, my client has a commercial lighting firm, so if anyone can
find weird colored outlets, she's it! And 5) a great idea for the
photo shoot - hide them behind knife blocks or other objets d'art -
which is what we did, actually.
