Does anyone know where one can get a AIC oxyprobe repaired?

Dear bryan;

If it is the return wire from the tip along the inner sleeve, you can
purchase some platinum wire and have your local jeweler fuse/weld a
patch in. this is the usual culprit. The Platinum turns brittle with
exposure to the atmosphere in the kiln, and then breaks. trim it back
to where it is still supple and fuse/weld in the new length at about
$8/inch for the wire. Best to enclose the inner tube and return wire
in a 1/2" diameter alumina tube open at the end and about 1/2"
longer than the probe for protection to make it last longer.

Cheers, Hank

Hi

I should have been more explicit in my last post about my oxyprobe, I
mean that the ceramic probe is broken in half [don't ask how].

i had the same problem sent a email to the makers of the probe; the
following correspondence took place on 12/18/2003,
there email address; ceramics@cof.com.au

that cost?

Usually the cost of repairing a probe is nearly as high as a new probe. At
best, we can cut down the price if we can salvage the wires and the
thermocouple, but that depends on the cost of getting the broken probe back
to us. I cannot tell from your email which country you are in, but if you
are outside Australia, the cost of sending the probe back is probably too
high.

I think the best we can do for you is a replacement probe. The price of a
new probe depends on the length. The most popular length for a pottery kiln
is 300 mm (12 inch), which costs $A495 plus delivery. If you would like to
order, we can accept Visa or Mastercard or a cheque. Delivery will be about
one working week.
