this story is like the perfect white glaze.
it just goes on and on.

i like to go over to my pals at odiguys.
they sell used computers, parts etc. thousands.
they sell on ebay...by the thousands.

i buy a lot from them.
i have been buying used ibm commercial machines..with
xp pro...$210.00. work like a charm. set them up for friends
and folks with young kids. mostly helping folks out. easy stuff.
lots of seniors that i swim with...80-90+ years old.
smart folks...eager to get into the new world. don't want to
be left behind, but have very limited budgets.

they sell used ibm thinkpads for under 400. they work just fine.
chuck buys off lease...maybe 500 computers at a time.
re/sells to smaller companies...you know...six at a time.
he has huge boxes with cords, mouse, key boards...and those
really nice cords that cost 80 bucks...his price...5.

like he says...`i never mess with mac...no call for them.
they are great for artists, students....but no call in industry.
very specific machines. that is why pc sells 100 to 1 over
mac. obviously great machines....but industry likes pc.
so, i buy and sell pc's.` he makes a lot of money. i think
i have seen three macs there in 10 years.

i love the thought of mac...have tried to make it work for me...they
just don't work for me...never have. you know...i hate vans.
have always been a pick up truck guy...so mac is like a van...i just
don't get it. they feel funny. without a question...they are wonderful
machines...

the bottom line for me is the miracle. the miracle of computers.
no matter what you use....you get clayart...every day. posts from
around the world...instant ideas and answers. win95 is still a
teenager. 12/13 years old. win98 is under 10. mac's have
become space age in four years.

live the miracle, no matter what you have. like flying to china...
40,000 feet in the air, going 500 miles an hour..and you land
in china..a few hours later. it is a miracle. those that bitch...
should be beaten.

Mel knows I don't always agree with him.
When that time comes, I send him a private message. We don't argue on
the list.

But there are times he's right too, and those times I
applaud...sometimes privately, sometimes on the list.
This time, I woke up all four dogs applauding.
Four dogs pointing in four different directions, all barking their fool
heads off...no wonder I call them boneheads.
Well said, Mr. Mayor, well said.
Best,
Wayne Seidl
