Cheryl, just catching up on the 1,000 messages in my mail. This is
such a wonderfully talkative group. The only glaze that looked like it
would run was the Craters. Non of the others really ran. My clay body is a
high fireclay one with wood pulp from the local mill that makes liner board.
The lizard, lichen, and beads had textured surfaces. I dumped together the
craters, beads, superstition, and earth mother; to form a soup that fired
like copper patina. This glaze was put over a solution of red iron oxide
and CMC. I think the thickening caused by the CMC helped get the crackle
started at the application stage of glazing.

The lichen glaze was the most likely to form a blue, rough textured surface
on my clay body.

I have not had success getting lana's aqua color with that recipe, but I've
had to move on to some other tests of Richard Burketts orange peel glaze so
I could finish my thesis. I may return to the aqua glaze with a line blend
of aqua glaze and orange peel. I'm really trying to meld the coloration of
the shino orange with a flattened orange peel texture. No succcess yet.
