Well, all three have sort of converged .......and in the last 12 months
I have had retina surgery on one eye and cataract surgery on both eyes.

After a lifetime of poor vision - much worse than 20/200 - and
considerable dimming of the lights in recent times, I am now the proud
owner of two inner occular implants, and the recipient of 20/20 distant
vision in both eyes without glasses. What a change this has been. Colors
are so much more vivid.. And I can count the hairs on the back of the
fly on the dog's ear across the yard.(not really, but my vision is
unbelievably sharp now). I do have to wear reading glasses for anything
within about 18 inches or so distance from my eyes. But this isn't much
of a bother. Two types of lenses available now - the old fixed lens like
I got, and a new lense called Crystalens. This latter lens moves like
the lens in a cameras - forward and backward to focus. With it, you do
not need to wear reading glasses. The eye functions normally. I was not
a candidate for the Crystalens because of diabetic complicatiions with
my eyes. and the retina surgery. But I will tell you I am extremely
happy with the fixed lenses. My life is so much easier. with the
improved vision.

To have the eyes messed with is a scary thing, If anyone is facing eye
problems and wants to talk about it or ask me questions, feel free, only
do so off-list please.

John --

I'm very happy to hear the surgery was successful
for you. These things were unknown a few decades
ago, and probably before I die the only people who
stick with glasses will be the old fogies.

It must be great not to have to worry about getting
your glasses dirty, or fogging up when you go
inside on a cold day --

Best wishes --- Steve Slatin

History teaches us that there have been but few infringements of personal liberty by the state which have not been justified ...
in the name of righteousness and the public good, and few which
have not been directed ... at politically helpless minorities.

Or people who just like glasses. I wouldn't trade mine for anything.
Been wearing them since I was 2. They are as much a part of my face
as my nose. ;O)
