Phil:
Never would have figured you for Hendrix. Nice to hear again after all
these years.
Lately, music has run to Uriah Heep (loud enough to shake the walls and
truly piss off the neighbors 2 blocks in any direction )
Steve Earle ("Jerusalem"), Dan Fogelberg (any, may he rest in peace),
and Seal ("System") .

I listen to Buena Vista Social Club, Dylan, Eagles, Dixie Chics,
Andrea Bocelli, Mellencamp,
Classical guitar like Owen Smith's Venazuela Moon, Rosanne Cash, and
basically anything I find appealing...usually dated. Need to add some
more to my Ipod.
Sometimes the local Mariachi stations. Haven't heard All Along the
Watchtower by Hendrix in a while....
The Doobie Bros are coming to Corpus Christi in March...150 miles
north of here.

Thanks for the link Phil! Wow, what was that big fat thing he was
puffing on? Reminds me of me in college. Being a jazz major at the time,
and we all thought it was a required skill... We used to joke about
passing out razor blades during our concerts on campus, so the art
majors would have something to play with.
Seriously though, this new year I can't seem to hear enough of :
Lindsay Buckingham, Out of the Cradle
Peter Gabriel, Music for the Last Temptation of Christ
Al Dimeola, John McLaughlin, and Paco DeLucia. Trio and Friday Night in
San Francisco
Pete and Arlo, pretty much anything.

Yup, I like Jimi as well. In addition, I've been listening to:

energetic (probably 85% of the time): antibalas, the buzzcocks, the
flakes, anything motown, the hi-risers, led zeppelin, nirvana, the
ramones, the white stripes, zzz
mellow: bob mould, fela, fountains of wayne, lcd soundsystem,
morphine, paolo nutini, stevie wonder, xtc

The lists are alphabetical because I'm reading off my i-pod. I also
stream WFMU online-- great stuff!

I like to "crank it up and let er' rip". My current
cd/mp3 list:

Oxford American Sampler 2007
Petty Booka
Ozomatli
Rockin' The Rhein With The Grateful Dead(3 disc mp3)
Luna

Popular favorites:
Brian Jonestown Massacre
Drive By Truckers
Lucinda Williams
Buddy Guy
Thelonious Monk
Gram Parsons
and Tab Benoit has been sounding pretty good lately.
I am a sucker for any old Savoy Brown, Quicksilver
(especially Filmore), P.Floyd, Zappa ( saw him in
Bologna, Italy 72-73?), ELP, etc.
When I am on the computer I listen to KXCI, Tucson;
WNCW (Isothermal Community College); KUT, Austin.

See y'all at the Alabama Clay Conference where I will
be giving a little demo on how to photograph your
work, including plates ( I use the infamous "sky

When I don't have the TV on, my music taste runs the gamut from Blue Grass
(favorites are "Three Pickers", the Grascals, Alison Kraus. Emmy Lou Harris
(love the album she did with Mark Knopfler "All the Road Running"), to Norah
Jones, Krishna Das, Puccini arias, and love songs from the 60's to 80's,
meditative new age music and some rock like the Eagles, America, etc.
Got the new Eagles album but am not too impressed. There are one or two good
cuts but it's not a cohesive piece of work. The music is all over the place,
kind of like my taste in music. :-)

Love,
June

Mostly, I listen to Air America Minnesota and Minnesota public Radio,
piped into the studio through my computer.

Since this summer, I have been enjoying Johnny Cash's Unearthed.
It is more Blues and Gospel, rather than Hillbilly. Folk music
is America's craft gift to the planet. Cash is modern Folk.

I'm glad you mentioned Johnny Cash;I have pretty much everything he ever
did, and listen to it all the time. Add Mississippi John Hurt, John Lee
Hooker, old gospel, old bluegrass, country from the fifties and sixties to
your list of 'craft music' America has given the world...I guess its not
sophisticated music, but somehow always sings about what I know and am...

Well, when I have my way......I listen to anything Dire Straits, including
anything Mark Knopfler, Andrea Bocelli, George Harrison's Concert for
Bangladesh, Johnny Cash, lots of opera (so upset when Sills and Pavarati
passed), the music from the tribute to George H. by Eric Clapton & friends,
Alice Coltrane, anything from Carlos Santana (met him last March in Kauai),
"A Prairie Home Companion" and "The Vinyl Cafe" on KUOW on the weekends.
Laura Pausini is a favorite as well.

However, there's a lot to be said for quiet.

Blues is probably my favorite. But, I like all soulful music.
When Johnny does Trent Reznor's "Hurt", you know he has lived it.
Reznor just imagines it.

A program I like on Sundays is American Routes, hosted by Nick Spitzer
out of New Orleans.

Welcome! I am a day ahead here in Japan so it pops up on sunday.

I also listen to Armed Forces Radio. Crappy music during
the day, but sometimes NPR at night and Prairie Home Companion on the
Weekends.

Once when a Japanese told me "All Americans are the same, don't
you agree?" I said, "Actually no. Texans are more like Aussies
than Minnesotans. While Minnesotans are more like Canadians that
Texans. " I said, "America is a big country." I told him to
listen to Prairie Home Companion on Armed Forces Radio out of Yakoska
to get a sense about what a Minnesotan is like." ;^) Yah, You
Betcha!

Radio only, our CD players keep dying here.
Wish we were solid state or satellite like lots you.
It's interesting... we have four radios in different rooms.
Wheel room is mainly classic rock, sometimes country.
Old guard with little radios in their private spaces, often NPR.
Store, our manager listens to 80's and sometimes trance or dance.
Handbuilding studio... mainly classic.
Kiln room, when I'm in there is usually rock.
Different strokes.
If we had a working CD, I'd be listening to Weather Report
or things in that vein, abstract music with no lyrics.
Cheers,
Ed Bull

P.S. Hey Tig - why didn't you bring that stuff here
when you were in the DC area (Creative Clay Studios)
