hanging platters/system

i have a system for all of my larger plates and big platters.

i always use a drill and place a hole in the foot ring.
it has several uses.
when the pot is drying flat on a table, air can escape from that
hole...water does
not collect under the pot when on the drying shelf. ( i flip them anyway, but
it does help.)
steam escapes from that hole during bisque firing, just incase the plate
is on a kiln shelf.
when the pot is glaze fired, the underside of the platter can breath.
they rarely crack down the center.
the hole also orients the platter for glazing if you want a
horizontal orientation.
i add my chop next to the hole.
when the pot is done...i can insert a picture hanging wire. add a tiny
stainless washer...pull it tight and add a loop to let the customer hang
the platter. it can be easily removed for washing..and, of course i can
replace the hanger for the customer at any time.
i really like a system that helps in every way.

I use a similar system but I drill two holes about an inch apart.
Wire goes through both. Usually use framing wire.
