MEL JACOBSON on wed 9 jan 08

Dear Friends,
So much work, time, and expense had been invested in planning NCECA in
New Orleans 2008 over the past few years. When it was moved to Pittsburg,
the New Orleans and Gulf Coast area potters decided to put on a production
of our own. Please read the attachments and sign up to be there ! NEW
Orleans is a wonderful place=20
!!!!=20
I have been busy with family tasks, and I'm eager=20
to spend some time with my clay friends
again. I'm sending this to all of the potters in my address book. I know
some addresses are outdated, and some of you may have given up on me....but,
I'm back :>) I'd love to hear from yall.
Soon...very soon,
Merrie
PS>>>>>pass this flyer on to other potters in your address book,
please. Wouldn't it be great to celebrate clay=20
with potters/friends in the Big Easy !

Ceramic Artists Ignite New Orleans Cultural Community

New Orleans is home to a diverse range of=20
art-making, from music and culinary arts, to

performance and visual arts. In an effort to=20
support and expand the community of ceramic

artists, the South Coast Clay All Stars are spearheading NOLA FIRED UP, a=
3-day

professional development conference for local,=20
regional and national artists who work in

clay. Conference activities from February 29=ADMarch 2 include lectures and

demonstrations by nationally prominent ceramic=20
artists with ties to the region including

Margaret Bohls, Joe Bova, Cynthia Bringle, MaPo Kinnord Payton and Lana=
Wilson.

The weekend is filled with educational and=20
networking opportunities, such as panels

addressing artists=92 insurance led by the Craft=20
Emergency Relief Fund (CERF), field-wide

topical discussions, and the environmental impact=20
of artists in the studio. NOLA FIRED

UP heats up on Friday 2/29 with =93Fire on the=20
River,=94 an all-day outdoor event featuring

sculptural kilns construction and demonstrations=20
right on the Mississippi levee.

Art galleries throughout New Orleans will provide=20
receptions for more than 35 ceramic art

shows to coincide with the conference, including=20
the NOLA FIRED UP Invitational.

Additional conference activities take place at=20
the Contemporary Arts Center (CAC) and

New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts (NOCCA)=20
and will include live entertainment

that is uniquely New Orleans. The 250 expected=20
conference attendees are invited to

participate in ceramic art =91volunteerism,=92 and an=20
area will be provided for vendor sales.

The South Coast Clay All Stars is an alliance=20
established by ceramic artists in New

Orleans and the region in order unify, strengthen=20
and support the ceramic arts and visual

artists communities in Louisiana and the Southern states.
