making a casting slip from a stoneware clay body

This is a 2 part request for information.

I want to slip cast some small pieces (intricate handles that I
currently hand carve) and attach them to a thrown vessel, e.g. a mug or
serving bowl.

Regarding the first question, I'm hoping someone can give me some
directions/advice on how to go about developing a casting slip from the
stoneware clay I use for throwing ... Highwater's Moonwhite. Be advised
I've never done any slip casting ... so a total newbie.

As for the second question, what I imagine is that there are probably
lots of folks out there who have tried this (attaching slip cast pieces
to a thrown body) without success and will advise that it cannot be
done. I've already heard that ... a lot. What I'm hoping is that there
may be a select few who have pushed this envelope and indeed had success
attaching slip cast pieces to a thrown body. If you're out there and
willing to share your knowledge, I'd be most appreciative.

Thanks, Bob
