Thats the trouble with age with it goes memory-not sure how long now I've had this 30 inch
Bailey power slab roller. Anyway it started off needing a few tune ups -like I had to get rid of that
incredible unfriendly safety feature. The hold with booth hands push board with double switches
to hold onto. As I am the only user (for you lawyer's out there) My studio assiant NEVER uses it. I
put a foot operated switch on it. Its been a steady joy to use with not one complainant.I got the
long table as well-which we use alot on glaze day. This thing pushes clay all day with no trouble.
Any thickness with just a twist of a knob. I use cloth on bottom side and the paper slab matt on
the top for no texture.
And yes I could have made one myself but I'm at the age where I can choose my battles and i love
to fish for tuna instead of cutting and grinding metal.
So If you have been wondering where all the magazines with real reviews of equipment have gone
(like the Studio Potters mag of the 70s) wait no longer this Bailey is a winner. Most mags cannot
really review (other than fluff)stuff because all the equipment folks are thier advertisers now. Yes
there was a golden age of info back in the day. As a 1 issue short of an orginal subscriber of
studio Potter I recently asked them to review equipment like they used to as they have no
advertisers to cowtow to. I thought they were in a good place as the only one to do it right. Alas
no such luck-so If your just starting out and wonder whats up with equipment ask an old timer
whats working best and what is junk. Mark Cortright
