Hi John,
Maybe formulating a glaze for application to a harder bisque would
be a way to reduce this problem, ie. almost vitrified.
As to dry glazing like that no I've not tried it I'm afraid.
Another alternative might be to use a different base, ie. not
water, for the glaze. Perhaps there is a liquid in which these
solubles exihibit a greatly reduced solubility. Borax in alcohol
(methanol I think) is one example, mentioned on the list previously,
by Tom Buck I think. Not necessarily without other difficulties
perhaps, flammability in this case, but maybe worth a thought.
