A Female Yixing Artist Coming to the US

I have just finished the judging of the third International Teapot Competit=
ion at Saddleback College, Mission Viejo, in California. The exhibition sta=
rts again in the middle of February. Like last time, the school is going to=
invite a teapot artist from China to work with and teach how to create Yix=
ing teapots there. JIANG Yong-jun is a Senior Craft Master and the vice- pr=
ofessor of Wuxi Arts and Technology Institute. She was born in Yixing 1966 =
and graduated from Central Academy of Arts and Design, Beijing (Now, Tsing-=
Hua University), Ceramics Department. Her artwork has been widely exhibited=
and published both in China and abroad.=20

Appreciation Letter to our English Editor Deborah Bouchette

Our newsletter has been sent out since 1999 and I struggled with my English=
from day one. Deborah Bouchette, the ceramic artist from Portland, Oregon,=
was in our tours of Ceramic China 2000, and she stepped out and volunteere=
d as our newsletter English editor. During the past eight years, we have be=
en sending emails back and forth. But, sometimes, after she finished the pr=
oof-reading, I added more paragraphs then sent out the newsletter. I felt g=
uilty since everyone will see her name as the English editor and think she =
was the one to blame.I felt bad about myself having received master's degre=
e in three years, but stayed in a first grade English classroom for eight y=
ears. My 12 years-old daughter Rachel Zhou told me: "I can help you!" a few=
weeks ago. So, I would like to give her the chance to practice what she ha=
s been learning. Starting from now on, our newsletters might be less "reada=
ble", but we will do our best to improve them. At this time, I'd like to ex=
tend my deep appreciation to my dear friend Deborah, for your patient, prof=
essional jobs for our newsletters and the books of Chinese Ceramic Cultural=
Sites-A Traveler's Handbook! I will still need your professional opinion a=
nd help for the articles that need published on magazines. You are my lifet=
ime friend! Thank you, thank you and thank you!=20
