I went out today and photographed a job I did last January. I
thought since I'm converting my slide shows to digital, I'd try
something fun. This is pretty subtle, but I really like it. It was
also my first time using You Tube. The tile panel is 12' x 6'.

Hey Paul, a beautiful installation.
Maybe I'm too into Hollywood, but this video is really quite
melodramatic. You need to do more. I'm waiting for the next scene
where you pan over to the naked body of a voluptuous female lying by the
pool ... and then her crazed lover comes rushing in wielding a giant knife!
Sorry, it really is a beautiful installation. You and the owners must
be very pleased.

Hey Paul,
Nice work!
Suggestion - some brief commentary what we're looking at.
"Tile work I did in an indoor for a client, installed during construction.
The tile panel is 12' x 6' composed of ____ number of tiles and inspired by
____...."
We know what it's all about, anybody else may think it's an ad for a pool
company.

Hay Crew,
There ya go Paul, it's as easy as that, and if you
click on "groups" to search "ceramics" there is one to
join. I suppose if someone wants to start a "group"
for ClayArt they could however why not just join
"youtube ceramics" and be there already? I think the
postings to groups is somewhat monitored to keep
things on topic/tag.
Something I noticed uploading longer movies is it
will hangup more often using Firefox so I use Internet
Explorer.

Hi Paul,
Terrific work, as we've come to expect from you.
What a shame we can't see a video of you doing the
underwater tile installation last January ;)

I've gotten quite a few comments on that video and suggestions about
what else I should have done, or what I should have added. Many of
them involved naked women. Now, one can hardly be more in favor of
naked women than I am, but I think that for what I want this is
pretty near perfect. I might have wanted a small rubber duck to come
slowly floating into the picture but that's about as dramatic as I'd
have wanted.
Understand that what this is for is to go into a digital slide show.
I plan to be talking about each picture as it comes up, and when this
one comes up, I want to talk about the job, then just let the ripples
go before I move on to the next one. I plan to be doing the
narration myself. Maybe a zoom would have been good, though.
I'm looking forward to my next tub surround shoot. Shooting with a
wide angle lens inside a small bathroom, I've never been able to give
the sense of how these things look in real life. They're conceived
as a wraparound image, then painted flat, and installed in a three
dimensional space. When you're in the space they make perfect sense,
but if you have to show two separate views to get both side walls in,
you lose that sense of space. I'm hoping to be able to compensate
for the distorted perspective like I can in a still digital picture,
and pan around the space. If I get that, I'll post that too.
Thanks for all the compliments on the work itself by the way.

Wow!I was thinking the same thing, but instead of a boring naked
woman's body, I visualized a man with the body of a Greek god and I'm
the one weilding a giant knife to keep others away.
but seriously (!), I love how the water started to rippled from one end
to the other end of the pool. Nice effect but too short. Need a closer
shot of the beauty of it.I agree with others, would have been nice to
see how you've installed it. Kathryn Hughes in NC

Cool! And it sure makes me want to go swimming! ;)
Beautiful Paul!
Sure, some commentary would be nice, but I rather like the sound of the
water lapping.
Now who has an underwater camera who can dive in and do a close up???

How warm is it over there right now eh? Actually you
can get the Pentax for about $300 and Olympus has one
for $400. It would cost way more than that to fly me
and Olof out to do the shoot. Olof don't use the
camera not after he didn't stop the van when I
stepped in back to do something and it went off the
end of my road into the ditch and broke the stabilizer
bar. He goes where I go cause he never really had a
home and master of his own until now so I don't kennel
him out.
One of many neat features of the W30 is you could set
the camera in the bottom of the pool and set it to
record visitors reactions and probably get an
interesting effect especially by fooling with the
lighting. Put a couple fish in and there ya go, play
"Yellow Submarine" softly in the background, it don't
get more romantic than that.
