january/february - frozen envirovent fan

Thanks Chris-
I read your post and was pretty sure I had the type of vent cover you
describe. So I wandered outside with my flashlight and pulled off the
screen and stuck my hand up inside, and there is a single flap, sure
enough. Unfortunately it is now frozen half open and I can't tell why.
Maybe it froze that way from the lovely north wind keeping the flap open
after I'd turned off the fan from the last firing. Maybe ice dripped in
somehow? I don't know, but will investigate further when there is
daylight and maybe something closer to 20 degrees ABOVE zero. I will also
try the "plug" idea when I can see and access better.
I have to admit to being terribly absent minded and hesitate to use
the 'plug' on a regular basis, so am open to other suggestions as well.
Again Thanks and Cheers,

Page Kelly
