Hi folks!
One of my students has moved to Vancouver, B.C., in the Granville
Island area, and is looking for a place to continue her studies. She has
taken a couple of quarters of beginning clay, both throwing and
handbuilding, and I would heartily recommend her as someone who would be
pleasant and courteous in the studio.
Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

OOHH! The lucky girl! Some here will probably give better details as to
classes in the Granville area, but there are many excellent venues and pott=
ers
selling there on the island. They are personable and willing to guide and a=
dvise.
On Vistoria Island is Metchosin International School of Art. The focus is c=
lay.
She can find out more at

Instructors are world class, the area beautriful.

The community center on Granville Island used to have pottery classes. There also used to be a co-operative studio along the sea wall under the Cambie St bridge called Clay-Tek. Pottery is everywhere out there. Most community centers have classes, a lot of the community colleges have continuing-ed classes, even Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design on Granville Island has continuing ed. Or they could just go to the BC Potters Guild shop on Granville Island and ask there.

Lela -
Victoria is not an Island but the main city on Vancouver Island and also the
British Columbia capitol city. It is also a 1 1/2 hour trip by ferry from
Vancouver to Vancouver Island and another 1 hour by road to Metchosin (
which is very much worth the trip as the scenery, the voyage through the
Gulf Islands, and the ferry ride alone are all worth it).
We are agreed that the school in Metchosin is probably one of the best
anywhere. Metchosin is also the home of Robin Hopper.
Have your friend try to get more information at the Potters Guild of B.C. on
Granville Island in Vancouver. The web-site address for the Guild is
communications@bcpotter. Welcome to B.C.

Oops..Yes. In my enthusiasm for the girl, my mind said Vancouver, my finger=
s, Victoria.=20
To a prairie girl, a 2 and a half hr. trip isn`t much.
Scenery between point A and B...heaven on earth!
Thanks Les.
