Hi Friends,
This is a reminder that the Potters Council and St. Petersburg Clay Company
will host a conference called CENTERED IN CLAY on February 15-17.
Presenting will be Don Reitz as keynote speaker and demos by John
Balistreri, Matt Long, Steve Loucks, and McKenzie Smith.
The demonstrations will focus on wheel thrown work, altered and decorated.
Look at www.potterscouncil.org/centeredinclay to get a sense of the
fantastic variety of styles, decorations and surface treatments the
presenters work in. At the Extrudaganza conference in Texas last year, I
loved seeing how many completely different things people were making with
extruded clay. This conference promises some similar revelations on what
can be made, starting with wheel-thrown components.
If you have not yet attended a Potters Council conference, you are in for a
real treat. You'll come away with new techniques to try, and with an
enlarged sense of our shared clay community. It should be a great
